What is the point of a glass froster? Chilling down glass before serving has several benefits. Pouring a cold drink into a glass at ambient temperature causes the temperature of the drink to rise as it cools down the warmer glass. Putting a cold drink into a cold(er) glass preserves the temperature of the drink for customer, adding to the experience. The second reason is that when you take a glass out of a glass froster, the cold surface of the glass causes water to condense out of the air. This condensed water then ‘frosts’ onto the glass, creating a visually appealing effect for the customer, especially when the drink is being prepared in front of them. Glass frosters are popular in premium hotels, cocktail bars and high end drinking establishments where the theatre of preparing the drink and the visual presentation as well as the quality of the drink is all part of the experience.
